
On January 31st, the Environment and Health Fund organized a panel on “Environment and Health in Israel: A Global Perspective”. Four international experts in environmental health participated in the panel:
- Dr. Linda Birnbaum, Director, US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
- Dr. Henry Falk, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- Prof. Erik Lebret, Chief Science Officer, Integrated Risk Assessment, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM)
- Dr. Stan Meiburg, Former Acting Deputy Administrator, US Environmental Protection Agency
Dr Linda Birnbaum, who could not attend the panel as planned, sent a video recording of her presentation.
Dr. Birnbaum, Dr. Falk and Prof. Lebret presented an update of the current global state of environmental health and highlighted the near future research and policy directions.
The presentations were followed by a panel discussion in which the state of environmental health in Israel was reviewed. The experts, who prior to the panel participated in a two day workshop on environmental health in Israel, focused on the unique challenges Israel is facing in this field.
