Our Vision

The Environment and Health Fund (EHF) was established in 2007 with a mandate to enhance capacity and capabilities in the field of environmental health in Israel.

Our Vision
Improved population health in Israel as a result of reduced exposure to environmental pollution

Our Goals

  • To broaden the scope and expertise of academic research, to improve training in environmental health, and to forge a community of interdisciplinary environmental health researchers
  • To improve expertise within government and the ability to develop evidence-based policies in response to environmental health challenges, along with improved coordination and cooperation among government ministries
  • To raise awareness, disseminate accurate, objective information, and promote wider professional and public interest in, and knowledge of current issues of environmental health

Our Activities

EHF’s Interdisciplinary Research Fund supports high quality research aimed at better understanding and mitigating the impact on humans of low dose chronic exposure to man-made environmental pollution in Israel.

  • University Centers of Excellence in Environmental Health each has a different thematic focus:

Technion - Israel Institute of Technology: Environmental Health and Exposure Science.
Hebrew University of Jerusalem: Agriculture and Environmental Health.

  • EHF provides Doctoral Fellowships for students at Israeli universities and offers Post-Doctoral Fellowships placements with leading international research groups in Europe and North America.
  • Short Courses in Israel are led by international researchers, on topics of environmental health currently identified as “gaps” in Israel. Short Courses Abroad offer an array of training options for a wide spectrum of professionals and researchers.
  • Working with Government focuses on broadening interest in issues of environmental health, building capacity to meet environmental health needs, and promoting evidence-based environmental health policies.
  • Professional Roundtables and Workshops are convened around specific issues currently on the policy agenda.
  • EHF's Annual Conference is a platform for bringing together all of the stakeholders to learn about critical topics on the international research agenda that are particularly relevant to current challenges in Israel.
  • EHF engages the medical community in order to raise the awareness of physicians in Israel as to the impact of environmental pollution on health.
  • EHF’s Hebrew language Magazine includes short articles on various aspects of research and policy on environment and health issues.
  • The Knowledge Center on this website, with a searchable database, provides scientific information on environment and health in Hebrew for a non-professional audience for the first time.
